![]() | A message from PRODUCING DIRECTOR, GILBERT CATES:  Welcome! This is a wonderful year to be part of the Geffen Playhouse. We're finishing up with the last play of our current season - Beau Willimon's Farragut North, which has an incredible cast which includes Chris Noth (aka Mr. Big from Sex and the City) and Chris Pine (who plays the young Captain Kirk in the new StarTrek film). And we are thrilled to announce our new season which begins in September of this year. The season, which runs the gamut from satire and farce to musical and biography , kicks off with the world premiere of Blair Singer's Hollywood parody Matthew Modine Saves the Alpacas - featuring Matthew Modine himself, segues into Bill Caine's witty historical fiction Equivocation, is followed by the North American premiere of Joanna Murray-Smith's wild comedy The Female of the Species - featuring Annette Bening which leads into the world premiere of Jonathan Brielle's gritty musical Nightmare Alley, and concludes with the West Coast premiere of George Stevens, Jr's stunning biography Thurgood - featuring Laurence Fishburne. When we program our seasons, we carefully choose playwrights, subjects and styles that enhance, enrich and engage each other. We encourage all our ticket buyers to become season subscribers because that allows you to see each play not only as an individual work, but also as part of a larger picture. It allows you to become part of a dialogue, part of a vision and part of a family. | ||||
But, I’m jumping ahead for some of you … If you’ve never been to the Geffen Playhouse before, I can only hope this stop at our virtual home compels you to come experience our world-class productions and spectacular setting firsthand. We’ll be waiting for you …
