School Programs
The Geffen’s School Programs are designed to serve K -12 schools in the Los Angeles area. The programs make professional theatrical productions available to students who may never have the chance to see live theater. Either coming to the Geffen to see our world class main-stage productions through the Annenberg Student Matinee series or going in to the schools with the ENCORE School Tour program, over 12,000 students will take part in these exciting outreach programs this season.
ANNENBERG STUDENT MATINEE
The Geffen Playhouse has developed a program designed to reach out to Los Angeles area students. The program offers students the opportunity to attend free matinee performances of Mainstage Geffen performances. Schools receive study guides with information pertaining to the play and educator workshops are held to inform teachers how to make the play more accessible to their students and curriculum.
Educator Matinee Workshops
Teachers who are bringing their students to an Annenberg student matinee are required
to attend an interactive workshop to prepare them for the experience. The teachers meet with staff and theater artists to find ways to best utilize the Geffen Playhouse’s resources and integrate the theater experience into their curriculum.

ENCORE SCHOOL TOURS
Committed to sharing the magic of live theater with students, the Geffen Playhouse works to bring professional, entertaining, and educational productions to low income-schools in the Los Angeles Area free of charge. Participating schools receive study guides filled with information about the production as well as activities designed to help students intellectually engage in the themes of the performance.

TEACHER SUBSCRIPTION PROGRAM
The Geffen Playhouse offers a special reduced subscription rate for full time secondary teachers in California.
